A hammer stolen by dark forces brings the Nine Realms to the brink of Ragnarock - the annihilation of the universe. Only a young human and the God of Thunder can end the cycle of destruction.
When a clumsy, bookish Midgardian boy named Leif discovers a mythic library, he is set on a journey he could not have imagined. Lured in by a disguised Valkyrie, sent by the Goddess Freya and her husband Odin, Leif finds himself transported to Asgard. As Thor and his bumbling band of rag-tag Vikings set off to find the hammer, Leif turns to Freya and his only friend, the Valkyrie Eir, for answers.
Unbeknownst to the rest of the Aesir Gods, it is the double-dealing trickster goddess, Loki, who stole Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. With the help of her monstrous children Hel (the demonic ruler of Helheim) and Fenrir (the savage, untamed wolf destined to devour the world), she plans to use the hammer to bring about Ragnarok. Thor soon finds himself strangely bonded with the human boy, and their divergent paths become one, as though some strange force is drawing them together.
A secret binds them during their perilous journey through fire and ice, where they will encounter demons, savage beasts, and ultimately an army of the dead, all in an attempt to return the hammer to her rightful owner and stop the destruction of the universe.
